Resistor colour codes

Colour bands used on 4-band, 5-band and 6-band resistors

Axial resistors are often marked with coloured bands which can be read to determine the key parameters for the resistor.

A four-band or five-band resistor has colour bands to specify resistance and basic tolerance.  A resistor with six bands also has a band to specify temperature coefficient.

Five band 1 2 3 4 5
Six band 1 2 3 4 5 6
